If you try to cast to a CEC supported TV while on a different source input (local TV channel, Cable, USB), source input will automatically switch to the HDMI port where the Chromecast is connected. WebThe remote isn't sending signals to all CEC devices, it is only sending to the singular device it controls. That one device then sends the CEC command over the HDMI connections to the one it is intended for. Through software, chromecast should be 100% capable of controlling the volume of the TV, without needing an IR port in it.
