WebbWhile I like the raked soffit and the overall look, any addition done to a home should match the basic characteristics of the original home - unless the whole outside of both is changing. The breezeway was a breeze, as we simply removed the soffit/ceiling and nailed an additional 2x4 rafter to to each existing 2x4 rafter, only 18" longer. As you may have figured out by now, the breezeway did not have gable ends. Or, we use a boxed gable corner (not often though). Anyway, best to draw that gable wall section separately, change it to hidden, uncheck clean up, set the offset and put it in position. I have a simple fascia and yet I struggle to get it to act correctly. I have modelled a roof as a 50 mm plate to just represent the tiles, the other elements I can deal with later.
